  • Jessica Hayssen

    Communications Director & Vice President

Jessica Hayssen joined the UFCW Local 663 family in 2017 and is proud to amplify the stories of the hard work that Local 663 members do and how they give back to the community. She believes that the power of our stories can be used to create better workplaces and communities. Jessica has held previous positions at the Minnesota AFL-CIO and AFSCME Council 5 standing up for hard working union families. She’s stood shoulder to shoulder with locked out sugar beet workers in western MN and went to jail for justice in solidarity with those who fight for $15 an hour at the MSP airport. She was a founding member of the national AFL-CIO Young Workers’ Advisory Council and founded Minnesota Young Workers as well as Minnesota Union Women’s’ groups. She is a long serving board member on the Nellie Stone Johnson Scholarship Committee. Jessica finds inspiration in people’s lives, because our lives and our families are what drives us to build better lives. Our story is about coming together through collective bargaining to live our values. Jessica lives in south Minneapolis with a brilliant daughter and loyal Boston Terrier named Oliver.

  • Raquel Avila

    Office Coordinator--Worthington

Raquel moved to the U.S from Zapopan, Mexico in 2007 with her two brothers and parents. A graduate from Dassel Cokato High school in 2011, she worked at New Fashion Pork for five years as a breeding and farrowing technician, then Monogram Meat Snacks for two years as a machine operator. Raquel joined the UFCW 663 union family in Worthington, MN in August of 2019. Raquel has worked environments where all the workers spoke Spanish, and only the boss spoke English. Being bilingual, she would be able to help both parties understand each other. Raquel values helping her community, especially people that don’t speak the language, and she feels she understands their situation completely because she’s been there before. Raquel knows no matter their race or skin color there is a place where they belong, and the union can be their support. She is very involved in the church, and currently is a coordinator for one of the choirs.
